Terrible plane crash in Nepal leaves many people dead.
Following the Yeti Airlines jet disaster in Pokhara on January 15, Nepal on Tuesday submitted the black boxes to France for examination. There were 71 confirmed fatalities. One traveler has not been found. In anticipation of seeing their loved ones’ bodies, hundreds of the victims’ families and friends gathered.
Some locals who watched the jet crash claimed the pilot may have purposefully veered to miss a village prior to the catastrophe, sparing the lives of numerous individuals.
The deadliest air disaster to strike Nepal in thirty years occurred on Sunday. 68 passengers and four crew members were aboard the jet when it crashed into a ravine while attempting to land at the recently opened Pokhara International Airport in the Himalayan foothills.
With eight of the top 14 mountains in the world, including Mount Everest, Nepal presents difficult flying terrain. Since 1946, 42 fatal aviation crashes have occurred in Nepal, according to the Aviation Safety database maintained by the Flight Safety Foundation.
